Amazing!
This plug in adds warmth and allows you to control and transient you want. The input can be driven harder for more coloration. This is the best emulation of a Fairchild I have tried. Bravo UAD!

Next best thing to real hardware
The Fairchild Collection completes the Holy Trinity of classic studio compressors. With these, the 1176s, and the LA2As, one can have a virtual rack full of the best compression hardware ever made. These come so close to the sound of the real things that it's fair to ask why anyone not running a famous high-dollar studio would want to bother buying and maintaining actual hardware.
The Fairchilds specifically bring a sense of weight and depth that is rarely available in plugin form. The saturation and coloration possibilities are very nice to have, and the compression action is spot-on. Bravo.

Go-to Compressor
Classic 1176 compressor bundle? How can you possibly go wrong? As expected, they sound just like the hardware we all know and love. Killer on anything you throw at it, and the blue stripe is front and center in so many of my mixes. Previously a lover of the CLA versions, but the slightly different character in the UAD blue stripe has me reaching for these every time.

Don't have an original 1176, but the plug-ins are great sounding units, for almost every material. I produce techno music, and I'm very happy with the punch it gives to all my sounds.

I am very pleased with this plugin, amazing vintage tube sound. It brings a nice warmth to the bass, drums, guitars and vocal.

Classic UAD improved tenfold
Seriously incredible piece of gear in your virtual rack. The original Fairchild was amazing, and added a thick character to anything you applied it to. UA continues to put out top notch product, and this update is a perfect addition to their updates on classic uad1 plugs. LOVE the new Fairchild, and it's already ended up in every single mix.

UA 610's my favorite pre amps
These two companions, 610A/B make all the difference in the recording quality when used in Unison. The vocal warmth is second to none...as a matter of fact there really isn't a fair comparison in the software world. Vocals, guitar amps and more benefit from these pre amps giving me a true professional studio sound!

Warm and Wonderful!
This plug-in is just plain fun to use. Covers the gamut of compression from mild to subtle distortion. Great on a multitude of tracks.

If you only buy one plug-in. . .
. . . get this one. (Or these three, actually). Between these LA-2A variations and the UAD 1176 collection, I can go from working in the big Nashville rooms to my home project studio and not feel like I've stepped out of a Porsche and onto a moped. These guys really capture the feel and grease of the original hardware versions, are easy to use and just make so many things sound bigger and better and more. . . analog and fat. Great gear for anyone at any level, and a great place to start in building a home studio plug-in collection to make things sound real and right. Essential.

Much warmer than the UAD 1 version
Very happy with this purchase.....I use on vocal tracks, often in 'flat' mode just to warm up the bottom end......can't live without it......and much cleaner and warmer than the original version.....a must have....

3 flavors of LA2A
These plugin sounds so incredible. I rarely used the legacy LA2A but this plugin is essential. And the ability to access three different flavors of LA2A is quite unique. UAD keeps raising the bar with every new plugin.

Amazing Fairchild sound with a mix knob
Using parallel compression is awesome, but setting it up in pro tools native is often problematic. Using the mix knob on this fairchild plugin makes mixing quick and trouble free. This plugin sounds great on vocals, bass, drums, and stereo busses. So much attitude! Easily go from clean to dirty compression in seconds.
