Far away from the hardware
Far away from the hardware, unfortunately.
I love and use almost all UAD plugins, but this one needs some work.
The attack is so fast, it does not give you the punch nor the harmonics you'd expect from an La-3a. If universal audio were still selling the hardware I would understand this plugin not being very accurate....

LA-3A
I tried this with Vocals, Bass, Guitars, Stem buss, etc, frankly speaking, i didn't like it at all. I prefer either LA-2A series (LA-2, LA-2A Grey and LA-2A Silver) or 1176 series (1176 AE, 1176 Rev A, 1176 Rev E) which kind of much easier to achieve exactly what i need for specific purpose.
If you already own the LA-2A and 1176 series, spend worthy time experimenting the variation of these series applying to different tracks and buss. You'll see the MAGIC!
You don't really need the LA-3A to do anything that the other two can't perform. I'm saying that LA-3A sounds bad but if the other two can perform the same, especially with much more ease of control, why bother about LA-3A which has limited control?

Gui too small
the GUI is too small, please update the GUI, the sound is pretty good, but is too small, I can hardly see it on my screen and I have a 32 inches screen

Dear Universal Audio! this plugin desperately needs a facelift!
I agree with M. Kellen
It is time to work on the mkII version. But meanwhile UAD needs to pay attention to this plugins outdated GUI.
First of all it is SO TINY to work on. The entire time I zoomed in to be able to demo this plugin!
It does sound great and I is a great companion to my LA-2A but, come on guys....

great sound, but with win7 64bit and Cubase 7,5 my cpu crash easy...because the plugins of UAD-1e Extreme is 32bit version plugins...it's like not to have the power of DSP Card inside of my Pc box... thats means is not very useful my UAD-1e anymore. i'm sorry but we need more care and support the older Uad user's..we want 64bit plugins.
