About as good as it gets.
Regrettably I only bought this after the 88RS and API Vision, due to the extra filters/gate/compressor etc compared to the 1073, and because of how many 1073 emulations I already own.
It took me until now to appreciate how great it is to drive the line amp section in conjunction with the EQ and channel fader. This EQ is all about how you combine the various features, and no other plugin comes close. The tone is incredible, as a unison pre it's fantastic. Just a great shame how much DSP it consumes.

NEVE 88RS MKii
Honestly, I've been waiting years to hear a plugin do what the Neve 88RS Mkii does. Stick it on any source, hit the mic button, turn the gain up 3db, eq to taste and be prepared to enter audio paradise. Honestly if it gets any better than this its definitely time to ditch the hardware. This and the API2500 are so close to the real deal its hardly worth mentioning the difference. I had faith in the AUD platform 10 years ago and I am so glad I perservered, with the 88 mkii UAD has truly come of age. Superb, exquisite, wunderbah!

Great on Guitars and Vocals
My first additional plugin purchase since I recently purchased a Twin duo. I have been using this in conjunction with the UA610 preamps and LA-2A and it sound amazing really adds great tonal quality and depth even with minimal adjustment. Definitely recommend this.

Great sound!
This Preamp and EQ do the trick. I can't explain in detail what makes the magic happen, but when i mix by ear i just love what the sound turns into. I barely can record without this Neve. This is my favorite. It feels like sonic home. For an analog fan who loves grit and soul this is what does it for me.

Colour and Character

This plugin is very good, I often use it in the mix on the acoustic guitar and bass guitar

You feel the difference when trying to replace by another pre or eq! Then you say, 'omg, that's the thing!'

Standard EQ for bite and presence
I use it on guitar and vocals, in combination with the Pultec. The Pultec adds smoothness, a fat low end and air to the high end. Combined with the Neve sound this is a winner. I demoed the other Neve EQ's but the 1081 came out tops for vocals in my case.

The power of the 88RS lies in its versatility. This channel strip lets you process many different genres of musical material in a transparent way while doing justice to the audio source. The sweepable EQ with its variable Q makes it the ideal candidate for musical tone shaping or surgical processing.

Great preamp and EQ
I love the coloration that the 1073 adds to my recordings in the Unison slot. The EQ is very musical and the impedance switch is a nice option to have. I also like using the Legacy EQs that come with the 1073 as they use low DSP for such nice EQs.

Just using this plug-in makes it a NEVE sound. It is very wonderful to use for both recording and mix.
