Quite similar to the original!

The plugin sounds as it should sound- raw tube power that at first and by itself is almost unpleasant to the ear but man, the way it cuts into the mix! I enjoy it immensely so thank you, UA!

composers tool for the late nights

Absolutely a fantastic guitar amp for those late night recordings. Used it on countless tv commercials, songs for radio commercials, and own projects. Great tool!

Wondering...

I like it a lot, while using unison, creating sound, recording this way, cannot understand thou, why it is so different and unpleasant using as a fx in a Daw...

Advantages are much bigger than disadvantages, luckily:)

Great plugin

Does it sound like a tweed? No idea, never played one. But plugins are getting close to that real amp sound finally. Love playing it.

Very close to real thing

Yes, its better than the standard brown amp in the vintage amp room offered by UA. But also more DSP hungry.

Very very nice sound. One star lost for the DSP apetite, though.

Overdrive, Distortion or bust !

This Amp plugin is for Fans of Dry Mushy overdrive. No clean tone For Chorusing Chimes here. Sounds Great With a Les Paul Gold-Top or other-than--Neck-pickup Strats.Think 70ies Rock

Nice little edge

Pretty darn nice! Cool features and quite versatile with nice microphone options

Great!!!

Not a specific problem for this plug-in, but I really wish I could record the sound I get a low volume, instead of always have to turn it up to get a good signal...

Still it sounds absolutely fantastic... Only thing bad about this, is that some of the preset cannot be changed and then saved.

Extremely rich in character; instantly usable tone

I've never used & mic'd a real '55 tweed in a good studio, with decent mics, but... regardless of whether (or not) this is a "true to tone" emulation... it DOES sound pretty bad-ass. I normally track a DI with every guitar we mic-up and when blending the DI with the mic'd amp... this tweed emulation give plenty of sonic palette to play with. I love it! There's a nice presence that comes from throwing this in there... Totally satisfied!

About as good as an Amp Sim can be

I'm mostly a Fender blackface and VOX AC15/30 guy but, occasionally I'd like some "dirty" tweed tone though I don't have the funds or space for the real deal. The Fender '55 Tweed Deluxe fits the bill. A simulation will never be the same as the actual amp, however, it will get you most of the way there for a fraction of the cost and you don't have to wait for the tubes to get hot! I think it would be hard to tell this from the real deal when used conservatively. I was also impressed with the Marshall Plexi plugin. Both the Fender Tweed and Marshall Plexi now pinch hitters in my guitar amp backline in the studio.

you got me

Ok so i demoed it like three times and kept thinking "I don't REALLY need this because i have so many other amp sims" including waves gtr, the UAD marshalls (which i love) UAD softtube vintage room (which also has fenders)...but then there are certain times when THIS tweed amp just has this bloom and presence and purity and delicious brightness without being brittle that i just CANT find elsewhere...and it's very responsive to nuance in playing. Something like this makes you play different; come up with different ideas, inspires you to sit down and just make more music. So in the end it's worth it. One star below five because i do wish they had given a LITTLE more mic placement modeling options; what they have is great but would be really cool to hear a room mic option. (love this on the marshall stuff)

Best amp simulation!

It's the best ampsimulation i ever used. But it doesn't work that good without an apollo.
I'd give 5 stars if you could use it in stereo on apollo. Don't understand the problem of UA.

Democratisation of high end studio gear

A day of recording with this amp and mic's in a high end studio would've cost me 3x what I paid with vouchers for this amp plugin. Best results so far are with the Royer R121 and Beyer M160 ribbon mics in the dropdown menu. Great for gibson funk rhythm and picking I find, however less flattered by the higher gain settings.

More then enough.

The response in this tube amp plug is fantastic. Sounds almost 100% like a real tube amp. Vintage sound. One of the best plugin i bought from UAD.

Great but a little too compressed on drive

Great, great clean to dirty tone. The most realistic emulation I've heard. Tail of cranked tone is a bit compressed but it seems like you can use microphone settings to mask a bit. Remember, depending on the amp, tubes, guitar, etc each champ is going to sound a bit different. This is as good as software gets. Looking forward to DSP optimization on this one.

So Far..

So far so good, I've only used the plugin on a couple of attempts on tracks. Having had an old hot rodded Fender Vibrolux 30 years ago to owning a DeVille today - I can compare what I'm getting with the plugin to those sounds. I'm please so far, but I'll continue tweaking and tinkering and see if I can give a more detailed review soon.

Impressed!!!

I had the chance to play with a custom built hand wired tweed which used the exact same circuit as the original late 50's fenders and I have to say I am really impressed with the Uad 55 tweed.
It took a while to really be able to get the most out of it but after a couple of weeks I am able to get a really wide variety of great tones.
With all the available mikes you get a lot a variety. I have used all the various guitar sim software since the beginning - guitar rig and amplitude. The Uad 55 tweed and Marshall silver jubilee are by far the best I have heard by far. I hope they release more models soon. A blackface deluxe and Vox ac 30 would be nice.

As an old school relic I prefer a MIX in my Electric Guitar Amps...This is as close to my own Fender Amp as you can get....Works with my Tele & my Pedal Steel

Stunning, but power hungry

I've never been able to own a real tube Fender amp. This has made it very easy to dial in the tone and get classic rock sounds without spending thousands of dollars. I can't compare to the real thing, but the sounds are recognizable and the response is amazing. Very happy with this amp and it is my go-to for jamming. My only complaint is that it is very DSP hungry. Don't expect to run much more on one of the less powerful Apollos. Totally worth it though!
