Sheer sonic delight
The combination of the Studer in the mix and Ampex on the master is great and glues it all together. The top end is crisp and the the bottom end is tight.

Just invested in an octo card and upgraded to pt 11. Next I picked up an Apollo twin duo. And a used MacBook pro to run those sweet preamp plugs. 1073neve and the 610b. Sounds unbelievable. thanks uad for a new outlook and upgraded sound. Nothing left for your sale sh.....

First things first...
I add Studer as the first plug in on every track, and I mean every. About half the time, I use an appropriate preset, the other half I leave at default with maybe a few tweaks. It really removes the brittle digital feel that I sometimes hear on my tracks. While subtle, it's real. It's by far my most used plug.

This plugin is great on the master. Capable of adding some great character to the final mix.

I haven't had a chance to delve into this plugin too deeply, but so far it sounds good and adds a nice tape sound. Low cpu means you can use it on individual tracks.

Absolutely blinding...
Been wanting this plug for ages... and now I've finally got it. Pretty much a mainstay on all my synths... using the bias and degredaton for ultimate retro effect without the hassle of real tape machines.

What can I said...
I don't think any one needs some recommendations on this plugin... It just make music sound better!!! I use it all the time and it helps me to create really good separation on my mixes. is amazing on acoustic guitar and drums!

Fantastic tone shaper
I've never owned or used a real analogue 2-track recorder, however I can only re-iterate what others have already said about this plug-in. I've had it for several months now and find it can really make a difference - from subtle to slamming. On the 2 buss it has the ability to transform mixes into records, but it's just as capable on subgroups and individual tracks. I've mapped the fiddly under the hood controls to a midi controller which I find makes it much easier to use (and more fun). I also own the Satin tape plug-in, and with the two of them I'm more than covered for great itb tape emulation.

If tubey is a word, then that Studer describes it. I picked this over the ATR, not sure why but it just felt better. I've tried out the ATR and I did get it, but I still prefer this better.

Warm it up
This plugin is incredibly cool on guitar tracks - fuzzing it out is what I'm after and found such a great tone when doing that!

Old Geezer Stuff
Not impressed because I have native plugins that do the same thing. If you need the power buy it and use it on your DSP system but don't be intimidated by the name, just another tape simulator. Typical UAD model something 50 years old. What a Geezer company. I hate how complicated this plugin is, like it takes some magic genie to run it or something. Tape emulators should be simple, like the Phoenix.

My Go-To Tool
The Studer A800 Plugin is simply amazing with plenty of useful presets. I use this on almost all of my tracks because I love the character the tape brings once the track hits it. It is very user friendly and more visually pleasent than any others I have seen!

Great variety of tape sounds!
I love experimenting with the various tape formulations, speeds and monitoring choices. Really warms up my bass, drum and vocal tracks!
The only mild bummer really has nothing to do with the plugin itself.. I first learned to record using tape, and the Studer plugin kinda makes me miss the whole deliberate-ness of committing performances to tape.. see what you guys did? :-)
